Since 1976 the University of Richmond Bookstore has proudly supplied textbooks and academic supplies. In that time, the bookstore has strived to offer the best service to the UR community. We will continue to strive each day to meet the demands of our customers to the best of our abilities.
Faculty Requisitions
Textbook requisitions must be submitted for each upcoming semester. You are welcome to either call or e-mail the bookstore to check on the status of your textbook submission or with any other question you may have.General Textbook Information
We stock all required textbooks for all schools of the University of Richmond. We offer used textbooks for many courses for your convenience and savings.Textbooks are organized by department, course number and section. You will need this information when buying your books. Shelf tags are located on the shelves, with the text for your particular course on the shelf above the tag.
Buyback Policy
Your Current Edition Textbooks are valuable. If you do not need them for future reference, you can sell them back to the bookstore every day. We call this "buyback." The prices we pay are based upon the current demand that exists for each title. When can I get the most money for my used textbooks?
The UR Bookstore buys books back from students on an as-needed basis. We offer year-round textbook buyback at the cashier station in the front of the store: Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday when open 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The exception to this is during finals week, when buyback takes place outside of the bookstore in the hall.As soon as the faculty submit their book orders - usually close to the end of each term - we have "demand" for current edition textbooks. We usually will pay 50% of the current new price of the textbook, whether it was bought new or used, until we have filled our need. Most often, the best time to sell your used textbooks is the weeks of finals.
What if the bookstore's need has been met?
After we have bought enough books to fill our need, we will buy back your books for the national book market if there is demand for your books at other schools. We do this by checking the database of a nationally recognized used book dealer. If the book is listed, we will purchase it and recycle it into the used book market for purchase by other universities. What are the national book market prices?
If a book has any resale value, the price paid will be between 10% and 30%. This depends upon the book demand that exists nationally.Do I need a receipt to sell my books?
No, a receipt is not necessary to sell back your books. The books do need to be in good condition. This means that the bindings need to be in good shape with all pages intact and legible.Returns Policy
If, for any reason, you must return your textbooks, please be aware of the following:
Returns must be made by the date indicated on your receipt and on the shelf tags.
Books must be in the same condition as purchased. No textbook will be refunded if it contains torn pages, broken binding, missing ancillaries, or marks of any kind.
A UR Bookstore register receipt must accompany any return.
Returns are made at the cashier station located in the front of the store.
